About Shockwave Therapy

Dundas University Health Clinic is pleased to offer Radial Shock Wave Therapy with Steven Smith, Chiropodist, via the enPuls 2.0 by Zimmer.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that promotes and accelerates the recovery of soft tissue injuries.

Developed over the past 20 years, Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) is a method for the treatment of superficial orthopedic disorders. A projectile accelerated within the shockwave handpiece generates short, high frequency, high intensity shockwaves, or bursts of energy that radiate directly in to the injured area. These burst of energy provided by the applicator are absorbed by the tissue and break down scar tissue, increase local blood flow and stimulate the bodies natural response to provide healing and pain relief.

Radial shockwave therapy is an effective treatment for a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions including:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Insertional Tendinopathy
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Heel spurs
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Chronic Inflammation
  • Myofascial Syndrome
  • Hypertonic Muscles
  • Overuse and repetitive strain injuries

Most treatments are covered by your extended health plan. Direct billing is available for most services.
